The Victoria History of the Counties of England, commonly known as the Victoria County History or the VCH, is an English history project which began in and was dedicated to Queen Victoria with the aim of creating an encyclopaedic history of each of the historic counties of the project was rededicated to Queen Elizabeth II in celebration of her Publisher: Institute of Historical Research. Hanwell's full title was the Middlesex County Asylum at Hanwell. In the Asylum was taken over by the newly formed London County Council and became the London County Asylum, Hanwell.
